    Here are 2 websites :

    http://www.kauai-hawaii.com/
    http://www.kauaidiscovery.com/

I went to a small and inexpensive hotel when I visited but it’s been closed and turned into condos….

In my opinion the nicest Island, a real nature’s paradise. Do go on a boat or Chopper to see the Na Pali coast is it out of this world (I did both)…

Mid-week tends to be the cheapest.

Just so you know, Hawaii’s schools have the first week in October off. That might be a good week for you to visit since a lot of people who live here will be traveling at that time.

During the week is cheaper usually. I don’t know where you are flying from, but ATA started direct flights from Oakland to Lihue. (I think they fly from other west coast cities also to Lihue.) When we booked, the flight was half the price of United’s!

Also, we always skip the hotel and rent a condo. Condos are great deals – you get a lot of space, a kitchen and usually a washer/dryer, which we use a lot considering all the activities we do there. Prices are really good compared to hotels. Try this site:

    kauaivacationrentals.com

There are other agencies also, but we have used this one and have been very pleased.

Of course, if you want hotel services, like room service and daily maid service, you won’t get these.

Mid week is always when fares are going to be cheapest. Book your ticket well in advance and you’ll have the best chance to get a cheap ticket.

As far as hotels, I would suggest you use a site such as hotels.com to get an idea of price range and location and then go directly to their website (the hotel’s) to book (or better yet, call them directly). You’ll often get a better deal if you go that route.

Since October is a low season here in Hawaii, you’ll more than likely get some great deals for travel.

    Good luck and happy travels!

If you can book a flight mid week it’s a little cheaper than on weekends Fri-Sun.

Poipu has a lot of places to stay, Lawai Beach Resort, Whaler’s Cove, Kiahuna Plantation. Great beaches, a few good restaurants.

On the east side Kapaa Sands, lots of restaurants, so so beaches.

North Shore the hotels are expensive especially in Princeville, great place for hiking, but usually rainiest part of the island.

Not much on the west side unless you want to stay in a cabin in Waimea, Kokee State Park.
